I have lymphedema and use these on my ankle/foot area to reduce edema, which is exactly what they are designed to do. If you're looking for pain relief, this ain't it. If you're looking to reduce swelling in a localized area following an injury (like a knee or ankle) or to treat lymphedema, they work great.I fell hard on my knee recently and it immediately swelled up. I used one of the patches on my knee and some fan tape on my thigh and there was dramatic improvement overnight. To treat my lymphedema, I wear one of these patches on my inner ankle combined with fan tape going from my dorsal foot/toes to an anchor point on my outer calf. This is what I wear under my wraps or under my socks and shoes to move swelling out of my ankle when I'm on my feet all day. They are not perfect. The adhesion is subpar to my other go-to kinesiology products, but the convenience (for me) is worth it. I use one a week, and usually manage to keep it on for 3-5 days (occasionally longer if I'm super-careful). I am very diligent about using friction to generate heat during application to activate the adhesive. I bathe in the tub and keep my foot out of the water or I take a quick shower and keep my foot propped up on the shower bench to avoid spray as much as possible. Like all my kinesiology tape applications, when it's time to remove it, I soak in a tub, rub the tape with soap, and if it's still resistant to being removed, I add in some share butter. Removal has never been an issue with these patches. It help with my shoulder injury pain I would buy this againI was really dubious about these patches initially. Then again, I felt the same way about kindesio tape and now know that correctly applied kinesio tape can really help - even for those of us with pain just from "loose joints".Anyways, I have chronic pain in the spine, SI joints and hips. Some of the pain is joint related, some of it is soft tissue related (bursa, fascia, muscle inflammation, etc.). Occasionally in the hip and glute I get redness and/or swelling with the pain. I am on chronic pain medication as well as medication for an autoimmune disorder (which affects my joints), but from time to time I still have flares. So, I decided to try these patches and see if they helped during a flare that caused some swelling along with the pain. I ended up testing the patches on the glutes, hip (around the trochanteric bursa area), the upper quad area and the lower thigh (outside edge - along the IT band). They worked VERY well on the glute, hip, and quad areas. Reduced pain and point tenderness where patch was applied by ~50-60% by day 2/3.They worked OK on the edge of lower thigh/IT band area. Reduced pain and some point tenderness were patch was applied by 30-40%. In my experience, I got more out of an aggressive application of KT tape to this area to relieve pain rather than the edema patch. They were not helpful at all around the SI joint, or on either side of my spine. Pain was reduced by 20% or less.I was surprised about this - I know for a fact that a good portion of my back pain where I applied the edema patch is soft tissue related (muscle/fascia inflammation) and the patches still didn't really do much good. It may be that I need to use 2 patches on the same area to get relief there (?). The instructions in the pkg show how you can stagger two patches over basically the same spot for "additional" relief. I didn't have enough patches on hand to attempt this, partially because the patches didn't stick well on the back at ALL. Conversely, I had no problems getting them to stick on the glutes/hip/thigh areas. For the SI area, I wasn't too surprised that the patches were useless. Yes, I know the pain there is from inflammation (I even get swelling in that area when joint pain gets really bad) but there's also a lot of bone in that area. Ligaments are very deep in that area. I can understand why the patch didn't work well here.I also tested 1 patch on my arm, after I accidentally bumped it and ended up with a really bad looking bruise + goose egg on my upper arm. The patch didn't do much for pain, but it did seem to help with the swelling. After 3 days with the patch, the discoloring wasn't as bad as I would have expected and the swelling was noticeably less.I like these - I am using it for my knee. Seem to keep me in decent shape today. However, it only says count 1 box in the product description. I thought there would be like 8 in the package - not. 4 in the package, so I am disappointed in that. The value wasn't where I thought it would be.I bought these Recovery patches after having so much success with the original KT Tape. I occasionally get swelling in my feet after long runs and thought these patches might be perfect to help with the inflammation. So, of course my foot swelling hasn't occurred since I purchased these. HOWEVER, I strained my left quad doing sprints one evening and was concerned because I had to work the next day - and I didnt want to be in pain.I slapped one of these patches on my quad and went to bed. I woke up the next morning with some pain in my quad still, but considerably less than I had the night before. Over the course of the day, my pain diminished and by the next morning (yes, the patch stayed on for almost 36 hours!) my pain was gone!I can't say if was the patch for certain that helped reduce my pain, but I think that having the patch on really did help speed up my recovery.Disclaimer: This is my personal experience, I would urge anyone to go get evaluated by a medical professional if you have unusual pain anywhere in your body after physical activity. They aren’t particularly cheap, but for the intended purpose they work as well as any of the other “tapes” out there. 2 to a pack is kinda lame, but they do help when my muscle aches are really bad. It doesn’t solve the problem exclusively, but as part of a more robust inflammation treatment plan, it helps in ways that aren’t achievable without it. I use the KT tape as well on my shoulders & on my arms and wrists to help ease the pain of tendinitis. It’s a noticeable difference in my pain levels and lasts at least 3 days showering regularly.Overall, it could either be less expensive or have a higher quantity per package, but it does help with pain when used with heat, Advil, rest, etc.really worksMy shin flares when I overuse my legs because well after a few avulsive fractures on one's ankle; they get overused. I have used 2 of these patches to minimize the overnight swelling, pain, and cramps. Yeah, they work and work surprisingly well.I have to say that I am sold on the benefits of KT Tape. This product range really does work for joint support, aches and sprains, especially as I have hypermobile joints. I was therefore VERY interested in whether this recovery patch would combat swelling and inflammation as I have bursitis in my hip.The good news is that this patch is EXTREMELY effective and tackles the inflammation/swelling quickly - however the application of the patch is not easy. I found the instructions not so straightforward, and given there are only four patches in the pack, then you do not want to mess up when applying the patch which is what has happened to me twice. The instructions indicate there is no need for tension when this patch is applied to the skin, however they do need (in my opinion) to be applied flush and straight against the skin, as the patch does not feel comfortable otherwise. These patches are somewhat pricey given there are ONLY four patches in the pack, so unlike me you really do need to get the application perfect first time around. I also found as a result the patch did not stay intact for up to three days as the pack states they can be used for 1 to 3 days. The edge did lift and if the central array of strips are not flush, then the patch irritates as well. However, these patches do work and quickly enough too, but hopefully KT will improve the design so buyers can enjoy longer relief and use of these soothing patches!!! :)Extremely difficult to secure on any part of the body. Comes off easily especially when changing. Mine never lasted the day!No benefit felt and not as effective as normal KT tape. Expensive and a waste of money.Works ok, but:1. Don’t get distracted or otherwise mess up when you are putting this on. If it gets even minutely tangled, or stuck to itself, it’s over.2. Everything is great WHILE IT’S ON. If you suffer from chronic inflammation, be prepared for serious rebound pain and inflammation when you take it off.All of this was very not fun and caused me much heartache. ???These patches are so wonderful some days my knees are so swollen from inflammation and after putting these on the swelling is gone in no time. They have jumped high in price is the only down fall :( and can not buying them in a drug store etc ....Amazon please lower the price as they are a life saver .It does not reduce swelling nor reduce pain
